Work packages/Curating databanks

Databanks

The current (May 2009) set of databanks for inclusion in the Shared Names project are those listed in the Gene Ontology (GO) Dbxref fields, resources from NCBI and EBI and resources that they link out to.

Curation tasks

Curation tasks include both initial and ongoing curation tasks. Although there is some overlap between the two, it is envisioned that the initial curation tasks will be more labor intensive than the ongoing curation tasks.

Initial curation tasks:

  • Developing databank short names or abbreviation for use in the PURL
    • The short names will be generated in alignment with other projects that use a short name for the resources of interest, however there is not a strict requirement that alignment be maintained in all cases.

Ongoing curation tasks

  • Managing databank records as new releases of a databank occur

Dec 2009 work

See dec09_report and CURATING in gleaner by Ben Hyde with Jonathan Rees and Alan Ruttenberg Nov/Dec 2009:

Approximately 500 data sources were identified by scraping 3rd party catalogs of bioinformatic data sources.
